An accompanying webinar Educating Accountants for a Sustainable Future, open to the public, will be held on February 7, 2024, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST (registration required), where the author of the literature review, Erica Neuman, will present her findings.

IFAC points to the growing importance of sustainability reporting and auditing in recent years. The task of the profession is to prepare its current and future members for these requirements. The literature review identifies existing and new competencies to fulfil such tasks, provides advice on training strategies that lead to the acquisition of these competencies and describes the challenges facing the profession.

Revision of the IES

The revision of the International Education Standards (IES) from a sustainability perspective and the publication of corresponding drafts is planned for the second quarter of 2024.
